我以下面这篇例文说明如何写流程图。

WRITING TASK 1

You should spend about 20 minutes on this task.

The diagram below shows the process by which bricks are manufactured for the building industry.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Write at least 150 words.

任何一篇雅思小作文，都至少要包含以下三个方面的内容：

• What is the graph? （开头段）
• What are its most important features?（第二段）
• What kind of significant details you can find? （第三段和第四段）

开头段：What is the graph？

写一句话即可，基本上都是改写题干。具体针对流程图，套路都是一样的。可以使用如下句型：

• The diagram shows the process of….
• The diagram shows the various stages in…

因此，针对上面的例题，开头写作如下：

The diagram shows the various stages in the production of bricks used in building industry

第二段话：What are its most important features?

第二段话总结流程图的主要特点。一般来说流程图的特点主要体现在两个方面：

• 步骤的数量。
• 整个流程起于哪一步，止于哪一步。（如果步骤只有4个以内，或可以总结为4大步骤，可以选择把所有的步骤总结列出来。

所使用的句型包含：

• It is clear that there are four stages in the process, beginning with…to…
• It is clear that three main stages are shown on the diagram.

在上面的例题中，步骤有7个，起于digging clay，止于delivering bricks。于是第二段话可以写作如下：

It is clear that there are mainly seven steps involved in this process, beginning with the digging of clay to the delivery of bricks to construction sites.

第三段话和第四段话：What kind of significant details you can find？

这是整篇文章的主体部分。重点需要掌握以下要点：

1.选用哪些动词

流程图是某个事物的运行过程，每个步骤都会有一个动作。因此动词的选择至关重要。

幸运的是，流程图中大多数情况下都给了我们动词提示。

在上面的例题中，动词的提示如下：

• digger – dig
• roller – roll
• wire cutter – cut
• mould – mould
• drying oven – dry
• cooling chamber – cool
• packaging – package
• delivery – deliver

是不是一下子发现了好多动词。

2.主要使用被动语态还是主动语态？

• 如果流程是人工过程，主要使用被动语态。
• 如果流程是自然过程，主要使用主动语态。

3. 学会使用下列表示先后顺序的词汇

• The first stage in the process is that…
• The next step is to do sth…
• The last step is …
• In the next (following, last) stage
• initially / to begin with/firstly
• next / later / then / subsequently
• as soon as / until / following this / before / after / once
• at the same time / simultaneously / during / while/ when
• eventually / finally

4. 学会用when和where写定语从句

The clay is put through a metal grid, and it passes onto a roller where it is mixed with sand and water.

5.学会将两个甚至更多的步骤用一句话表达

The bricks are heated in a kiln at a moderate temperature (200 – 900 degrees Celsius) and then at a high temperature (up to 1300 degrees), before spending two to three days in a cooling chamber。（三个阶段放在一句话了）

6.将所有步骤划分，分两段写

我们将上述例题的前三个步骤写在第三段，后面的四个步骤写在第四段。

根据上面的要点，上述例题的第三段和第四段写作如下：

It is clear that there are mainly seven steps involved in this process, beginning with the digging of clay to the delivery of bricks to construction sites

At the beginning of the process, clay is dug from the ground. The clay is put through a metal grid, and it passes onto a roller where it is mixed with sand and water. After that, the clay can be shaped into bricks in two ways: either it is put in a mould, or a wire cutter is used。

At the fourth stage in the process, the clay bricks are placed in a drying oven for one to two days. Next, the bricks are heated in a kiln at a moderate temperature (200 – 900 degrees Celsius) and then at a high temperature (up to 1300 degrees), before spending two to three days in a cooling chamber. Finally, the finished bricks are packaged and delivered.
